Black noodle is a Korean Chinese cuisine.

In Korean we said it as Jajangmyeon.

The dish originated from Zhajiangmian (炸醬麵, literally “fried sauce noodles”).

Zhajiangmian was adapted in Korea to fit the Korean taste.

Interestingly, there is a special day all about eating black noodles in Korea.

We called it ‘Black day,’ April 14 each year.

Oh, it is coming!

If you want learn some more about ‘Black day,’ there is a video which is made by my college, Korea University, to introduce it.

You can eat Chapagetti instead of original black noodle : )

Anyway, Koreans really like black noodles, so there is many kind of instant black noodles.

I will cook the most famous one with you, the Chapagetti.

Its recipe is a little harder than Shin ramen’s.

I will explain it the quick and easy way, so just follow my lead.

When the water starts to boil, add vegetable mix and noodles.

We should keep boiling on high heat and don’t cover after adding noodles.

IMG_5526

Simmer 3 minutes or until noodles are soft.

IMG_5530

Pour the half of the water down the sink.

Be careful the noodles and vegetable mix don’t pour down together.

I use chopsticks, but my friend uses the pot’s lid.

Choose the easiest way for you.

At this point, you have to remember to leave half of the water.

IMG_5531

Reduce the heat between medium and medium low.

Add soup base and mix with noodles.
